Departing from the older traditional boundaries of Tibetan calligraphy, this series employs black ink on a black ink base and application of heavy and delicate multi layering to produce a two-tonal effect - this being more apparent in certain light conditions. The use of modern techniques - such as the resist of masking fluid - allow contrast and the opportunity to apply clean luminous colours.
Until recently, the subtle reflective quality of these pieces proved difficult to replicate as a print. With new methods and high resolution photography we have successfully reproduced the delicate two-tonal quality of these artworks.
These limited edition prints are of an extremely high quality: printed mostly on premium quality bamboo fine art paper, these reproductions do justice to the precision and detail of the original artworks. Such classic calligraphy is best enjoyed as larger prints, similar in size to the original art piece, though half size prints may be more of a practical option if you have limited wall space.
Where gold and silver leaf have been used on the original artworks, prints are carefully hand gilded to produce an authentic real gold and silver finish. Please note that not all of the small prints are possible to gild due to their size.
The prints are hand signed with their own edition number and stamped with the artist's personal seal in red Japanese cinnabar ink.
