Ye Dharma mantra - original

The ye dharmā mantra, or known as the Dependent Origination Dhāraṇī - རྟེན་འབྲེལ་སྙིང་པོ།

oṃ ye dharmā hetuprabhavā hetuṃ teṣāṃ tathāgato hy avadat, teṣāṃ ca yo nirodha evaṃvādī mahāśramaṇaḥ svāhā.

oṃ is added at the beginning for auspiciousness and svāhā at the end to underline stability.

This mantra/dhāraṇī is said to be the essence of the Buddhas teaching. Who proclaimed the cause of those phenomena that arise from causes, as well as their cessation.

With a large brushed པཾ ‘pam’ - the essence syllable of Parnashvari who eliminates all diseases. Parnashvari is yellow-gold in colour, hence the seed syllable is applied in pure saffron.

This calligraphy piece was created and dedicated to the current plight within our world, as everything, us and our environment, is interdependent and subject to cause and effect.
What is happening to us is a direct result of collective karma, how we treat each other and how we treat our planet with all its sentient inhabitants.

Please note to frame this piece behind UV protective, non-reflective museum standard glass - in order to protect the more light sensitive saffron, though it would be appropreate that as the saffron syllabe fades as does the current pandemic.
